However, as much fun as it is to road trip with your pooch, you need to ensure they too are comfortable and safe!
Here is a checklist for you to use when traveling with your dog.
- Bring a bowl for food and water.
- Bring a leash.
- Take breaks so your pup can get exercise and use the washroom.
- Bring puppy wipes in case your dog gets car sick.
- Pack puppy pads and keep one in the crate in case your dog has an accident.
- Line the crate with a pillow and a blanket for comfort.
- Pack toys and something to chew on to keep him or her entertained.
- Add a blanket to the top of the crate to comfort an anxious puppy.
- Bring treats to reward your pooch for good behavior.
- Don't blast your music too loud, as they have sensitive hearing.
- Never leave your dog in a vehicle without leaving windows cracked.
Taking this checklist into consideration this spring break or anytime when you decide to travel with your dog in your vehicle will make the drive a lot easier and less stressful for both you and your four-legged friend.
